Propriétés

  • Analgésique central et anesthésiant local [1], de goût sucré
  • Antalgique pur dans les maladies inflammatoires [2], sans effet sédatif [3]
  • Anti-inflammatoire [4], dans les inflammations aiguës non immunes, probablement par action inhibitrice sur la production et / ou la libération de PGE2 et de NO [5]
  • Neuroprotecteur, des dérivés sont inhibiteurs de la monoamine oxydase B [6] et augmentent le niveau de glutathion dans les cellules astrogliales (anethole dithiolethione)[7]
  • Augmente les sécrétions pulmonaires, stimule l’expectoration
  • Activité antivirale vis-à-vis d’ Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) in vitro [8], même sur des virus résistants à l'acyclovir [9]
  • Parasympathomimétique à faible dose
  • Activité œstrogénique [10], œstrogène-like par son dimère le dianéthole, ligand pour les récepteurs aux œstrogènes, puissance estrogénique relative de 1 à 10 millions de fois moindre que celle du 17 béta-estradiol, en rapport de poids [11], empêche l’implantation des ovules fécondés chez la souris [12]
  • Gastroprotecteur [13], anti-ulcéreux [14]
  • Stimulerait la régénération du foie après hépatectomie partielle
  • Inducteur des enzymes de phase II [15]
  • Antithrombotique, activité antiplaquettaire à large spectre, action vasorelaxante [16]
  • Antifongique, synergique du polygodial dans les infections à Candida albicans et Saccharomyces cerevisiae [17], [18]
  • L'anéthol entre dans la composition du pastis, il est responsable du trouble qui survient lors de l'addition d'eau
  • Ses activités anti-inflammatoire, anticarcinogène, antidiabétique, immunomodulant, neuroprotecteur, antithrombotique, sont liés à la modulation de plusieurs voies de signalisation telles que NF-kB, TNF-α et canaux ioniques [19]

Effet thérapeutique

Effets indésirables

  • La DL-50 du trans-anéthole est très élevée, supérieure à 3000 mg/kg chez la souris [12]
  • Ajouté à l'alimentation du rat, le trans-anéthole n'induit pas de surmortalité, mais il existe un sur-risque d'hépatocarcinome, à des doses très élevées ; le risque cancérogène pour l'homme ne serait pas significatif [20]
  • En revanche, le (Z)-anéthole (cis-anéthole) est neurotoxique [21]
