  • Anti-oxydant, capable de neutraliser l'oxygène singulet, protecteur rétinien
  • Sa consommation est associée à un moindre risque cardio-vasculaire [1], [2]
  • Réduction du risque de cancer, surtout de la prostate [3], [4], [5], [6], [7], [8], [9], [10], [11]
  • La biodisponibilité du lycopène dans les concentrés de tomate ou le ketchup est plus importante que celle des tomates fraîches [12], [13]
  • Protection vis-à-vis de certaines chimiothérapies, réduction de la toxicité myocardique induite par la doxorubicine [14]
