  • Vivace présente dans presque toute l’Europe et en Asie, 60 à 150 cm, feuilles vert sombre à dessous blanchâtre, profondément découpées en lobes aigus, fleurs disposées en longs épis de glomérules
  • Calice à dents épineuses, longue corolle purpurine ou rose, +/- ponctuée, pubescente
  • Les 4 parties du fruit sont trigones et velues

Histoire et tradition

  • Son action sur le cœur et la circulation justifie son autre nom de cardiaque
  • Son nom vernaculaire anglais motherwort est justifié en raison de l'usage des plantes du genre Leonurus en gynécologie et néonatalogie [1]
