Propriétés

  • Bénéfices cardiovasculaires, activité vasorelaxante, antihypertenseur par inhibition de l’enzyme de conversion de l’angiotensine, amélioration de la microcirculation et de la perméabilité capillaire, antioxydant, régénère le radical ascorbyl de la vitamine C, protège la vitamine E endogène et le glutathion du stress oxydatif, module le métabolisme du NO dans les macrophages activés, inhibe l'expression de l'ARNm iNOS et l'activité iNOS [1], [2], [3], [4]
  • Permet la régénération de la vitamine C (soit par régénération de l’acide ascorbique à partir de l'ascorbate, soit par interaction avec l'ascorbate oxydase, empêchant ainsi sa dégradation) [5]
  • Améliorerait les dommages de l'ADN induits par le stress oxydatif in vitro et in vivo [6]
  • Anti-agrégant plaquettaire [7]

  • L’association Pycnogénol + Centella asiatica améliore la stabilité des plaques athéromateuses [9], [10], surtout la fraction riche en triterpènes de Centella asiatica [11], sans problèmes de tolérance ni effets indésirables [12]

    • Chez les utilisatrices de contraceptifs oraux microdosés, la dysménorrhée survient généralement pendant l'intervalle sans hormones. L’absence de progestatif active le facteur de transcription NF-κB, qui régule positivement l'expression du facteur de croissance endothélial vasculaire (VEGF) et de la Cox-2 dans l'endomètre. L'utilisation d'inhibiteurs naturels de NF-κB tels que le pycnogénol peut bloquer cette réponse, améliorant ainsi la dysménorrhée [21]
