  • Activité antalgique [1] par effet probable sur le système GABAergique, activité anti-inflammatoire attribuée à la suppression des cytokines proinflammatoires TNF-alpha et IL-1béta [2]
  • Anxiolytique, antioxydant, activité anticholinestérasique [3]
  • Neuroprotecteur :
    • Effet antioxydant et anti-inflammatoire, atténue la neurodégénérescence dopaminergique induite par la roténone, potentialités dans la maladie de Parkinson [4]
    • Protège le cerveau des lésions provoquées par un traumatisme crânien, sur modèle murin [5]
    • Protège le cortex cérébral et l'hippocampe des lésions induites par le cyclophosphamide sur modèle murin [6]
  • Gonadoprotecteur, protège le testicule des lésions induites par le cyclophosphamide sur modèle murin [7]
  • Cardioprotecteur, protège le myocarde des lésions induites par le cyclophosphamide sur modèle murin [8]
  • Hépatoprotecteur, protège le foie des lésions induites par le cyclophosphamide sur modèle murin [9]
  • Propriétés anti-âge [10]
  • Inducteur d’apoptose dans des cellules cancéreuses [11] (hépatocarcinome [12], [13])

Effets indésirables

  • DL 50 par voie orale (chez le rat) > 5 g/kg
  • Très faible génotoxicité chez la souris [23]
  • Le nérolidol ne semble pas avoir d'activité estrogénique propre, il ne se lie pas aux récepteurs des œstrogènes dans l'utérus de ratte
