Phytothérapie : Usage des plantes médicinales à des fins thérapeutiques (étymologie grecque « phyton », plante et « therapein », soigner)

  • La phytothérapie moderne impose :
    • De nommer la plante sous son nom botanique international (dénomination latine binominale)
      • Nom de genre et d'espèce
    • De préciser l'organe de plante utilisé (correspondant à la drogue végétale et à son usage médicinal)
    • D'indiquer la forme galénique adéquate
      • La forme galénique est la forme sous laquelle se présente un médicament (liquide, solide ou pulvérulente), ainsi que sa présentation (gélule, comprimé, sirop…). Cette dénomination provient du nom du médecin grec Galien, qui en a codifié les règles
    • De spécifier le dosage et la durée de traitement [1]
