Histoire et tradition

  • Le Mûrier blanc est cultivé depuis l'Antiquité de la Chine au Proche-Orient pour la sériciculture, ses feuilles étant l’aliment exclusif du ver à soie Bombyx mori
  • Introduit par Olivier de Serres en 1601 sous Henri IV au jardin des Tuileries
  • Les feuilles sont utilisées comme antidiabétiques en médecine traditionnelle
