  • Afrique, Asie du Sud

Histoire et tradition

  • En Inde, Ocimum sanctum est déposé en offrande au dieu protecteur Vishnou, et au dieu sauveur Krishna, il serait censé protéger le mort dans l'autre monde
  • En Thaïlande, il est cultivé près des temples bouddhistes
