  • Arbuste à feuilles lancéolées et fleurs bleu-violet, de 30 à 120 cm de haut
  • Plante d’Asie, Chine, Japon, Corée, Russie, talus herbeux et ensoleillés, terres incultes jusqu’à 2000 m d’altitude

Histoire et tradition

  • Plante de la Pharmacopée traditionnelle chinoise
  • Scutellaria lateriflora L. d’Amérique du Nord est utilisée dans les rites de purification lorsque les tabous sexuels avaient été enfreints, et contre la rage, actuellement comme sédatif nerveux
