  • Plante touffue, mellifère, spontanée sur les coteaux méditerranéens calcaires et ensoleillés d’Europe, Afrique du Nord, Asie Mineure
  • Tiges ligneuses à la base, nombreuses petites feuilles opposées lancéolées, une seule nervure médiane
  • Fleurs à calice oblique et strié, corolle bleue ou violacée, largement dépassée par les étamines
  • Odeur pénétrante agréable

  • Expectorant et fluidifiant bronchique
  • Anti-asthmatique, Hyssopus officinalis inhibe le remodelage des voies respiratoires chez l’asthmatique, en corrigeant le déséquilibre du rapport MMP-9/TIMP-1, des cytokines IL-4, IL-6, IL-17, IFN-γ, et en inhibant l'épaississement des muscles lisses bronchiques, l'hyperplasie des cellules caliciformes et la fibrose [2], [3], anti-inflammatoire en inhibant l'invasion des éosinophiles et en diminuant les niveaux d'IgE, et intervient dans la régulation immunitaire [4], avec régulation de la différentiation Th1, Th2 et Th17 [5], [6]
  • Antioxydant, anticonvulsivant, anti-leishmaniose [7], larvicide de moustiques [8], anti-inflammatoire, myorelaxant, anti-HIV [9]
  • Amélioration de la digestion, antispasmodique des muscles lisses intestinaux par effet parasympatholytique (HE et isopinocamphone) [10], comme l'HE d'Hyssopus decumbens [11], anti-ulcéreux [12]
